How To Make A Pizza Panini Grill Style

Image
My daughter was at a birthday party sleepover a little while ago and was very impressed with their evening meal. For dinner they had these "pizza grilled cheese sandwiches" and she was emphatic on how really good this food was.  She was trying to explain how they were cooked and was saying that it was pressed in this "thing". I asked if it was a Panini and her head nodded very quickly in an excited yes motion. (A panini is basically a sandwich that is grilled on both sides.)  They sounded like such a great idea for supper and would be a delicious and super easy meal so I decided that we would try it. Only curve in the road was the fact that I didn't have a Panini Pan. No problem! George Foreman to the rescue. The man is my hero and not for his boxing skills.  My kids are having pizza panini for supper. My little not so secret kitchen appliance is one of the famous George Foreman grills and it does everything I need it to do plus more. Cooking the perfect

Shake and Bake Chicken Seasoning Recipe

Image
Open up your spice cupboard things are about to get zesty. Do you love to make shake and bake chicken at home but are tired of the high cost that little seasoning package costs? Me too. There isn't much there for the price and it just never seems to go very far. I went to make chicken one day and realized that the huge box of chicken seasoning that I had purchased was pretty much empty. With a family of 6 it simply does not last so I decided that I was talented enough to make my own. What could it hurt to give it a try?  Boy was I surprised what a wise move I was about to make. I started throwing things into a bowl (making sure I measured it all out so I could share the recipe (just in case it turned out). Well let me tell you that while I was making it that homemade shake and bake seasoning mix was smelling pretty darned good. Then once it was on the chicken and all baked up I couldn't believe how great it tasted. I am so glad I decided to create my own coating recip

The Canadian Penny Discontinued

Image
If you have some tucked away hold onto those coins the rumors you may have heard about the Canadian penny being discontinued are true. On March 29th 2012 the federal finance minister for the Conservative party of Canada made the official announcement on the Canadian 1 cent coins demise. The announcement of the Canadian 1 cent coins discontinuation was met with mixed reviews. Some people were only too happy to have one less coin in their pocket but others saw the penny's demise as another way that they were going to become a penny or two poorer. A number of people struck a protectionist attitude toward having their beloved copper coin being removed from circulation. On May 4th, 2012 the very last Canadian penny was minted and on February 4th, 2013 the penny's distribution in Canada came to an abrupt halt. The small copper coin which had been distributed within Canada since 1858 now slated to be sent back to the Royal Canadian mint to be melted down. Gift Ideas for a Boy Age 9 or 10

Image
Scouting out a Birthday or Christmas gift for a nine or ten year old boy can be such fun. There are a lot of items he would be thrilled to receive. He is at an age where he has a lot of interests and he is always excited to discover a present with his name on it. Active, inquisitive, and endearing a 9 or 10 year old boy loves to see a video game, sports equipment, sweet treat, money, or toys gifted to him. Watching his favorite television shows, tossing around a ball, playing with his toy cars, playing video games, or chasing his friends or his sister around the yard, a school age boy seems to have a boundless amount of energy. He is always busy doing something. Fitness gifts are important for today's kids. Times have changed a lot since we were kids. We spent a lot our time outdoors and playing but with the introduction of computers and video games children today are much more sedentary than we were.  After school kids spend time playing video games or watching television an

Adopting an Adult Cat into a Forever Home

Image
His name is Sheldon (Sheldon Cooper when he is in trouble), but this wasn't always his name. Let me explain... It all started with a gift opening from our marriage. Our very good friend Devon knew that we were in the market for a new family member since we had lost our precious Gama's in February of 2012 so her gift to us was a gift certificate for a cat from our local SPCA. We had decided that since our new pet was going to be part of our family that the whole family would be involved with the adoption process. So this is the how we decided on adopting an older cat and why we are now so glad that we did. There is definitely a plus side to adopting an older pet. This is officially his forever home. The search for Sheldon: We must have spent about 2 hours in the SPCA that day checking out all of the kittens and cats that were there. We let each one individually out of their cages to give them some cuddles and one-on-one attention as well as to see how they interact
